Description
Do unrealistic and unmet expectations of residents and families lead to conflicts in your community? Does your community need improved risk management tools and resources? How can culture change certification transform your community and enhance resident-directed care? This education and workshop are for you! Lead by an expert attorney in senior living, this program will bring out the strength of your wolf pack community as they learn together how to set and manage resident and family expectations and empower your staff while achieving Guide Path certification. Unrealistic expectations, unmet needs and diverse pre-admission experiences are risk and claim drivers. Best practices and tools shared in this program include the Resident and Family Insights Survey used to obtain information about key areas such as communication, family systems and goals of care. The program will also present education, training and implementation topics for all providers in the senior living ecosystem that can change the culture, improve quality of care, family engagement and reduce losses. We will discuss how to open the gates to difficult conversations, such as the resident’s wishes regarding care, their prognosis, and future care or end-of-life conversations. Properly educating staff and families about expectations through best practices will result in improved quality of care, family satisfaction, staff retention, increased resources, and reduced risk and liability.

Nurse Learner Outcome: At the end of the session, participants will self-report knowledge gain of how expectations drive complaints, grievances and claims and how to implement education and training into the community that is then monitored and supported by Guide Path resources and tools for quality and process improvement, resident and family expectations management and compliance.
