Description

Bullying is not limited to the playground.  Workplace violence, lateral violence and aggression, and resident aggression may be happening without you even knowing about it.  Stress, working short staffed, challenging behaviors, unconscious bias, and personality conflicts can all lead to workplace violence and resident aggression.  This session will aim to help educate learners on what workplace violence and resident aggression is, how to identify instances of this happening, and how to mitigate these situations in the future.

Nurse Learner Outcome: At the conclusion of this session, participants will self-report a knowledge gain of the appropriate way to identify and mitigate workplace violence and resident aggression.

Learner Objectives:

  1. Describe what workplace violence, resident aggression, and bullying are.
  2. Identify methods to create a safe environment for staff and residents.
  3. Discuss methods to reduce stress and improve self-care that can be implemented today.
  4. State the benefits of an employee assistance program in reducing stress, frustration, burnout, bullying, and lateral violence.
