Morning Keynote: Own Your Story - The Depth of Authentic Leadership
Speakers
Christy McDonald, SamMac Communications Inc.
Audience

Description

Every person in your building is carrying something you can't see. So are you.

In this keynote, Emmy Award-winning anchor Christy McDonald makes the case that authentic leadership isn't about being an open book, it's about being a known one.

Through her own story of public success and private loss, and drawing on nearly 30 years of experience asking the questions that matter, Christy shows long-term care executives how to share with intention, lead with credibility, and build the kind of trust that keeps great teams together. Participants will leave with a framework for owning their story without losing their authority and the questions that help them truly see the people they lead.

Your story is not a liability. It's a credential.

Nurse Learner Outcome:

Learner Objectives:

  1. Identify personal experiences and defining stories that have shaped their leadership approach and professional identity.
  2. Apply a three-part decision filter (Is this story finished enough to tell? Does it serve the listener, not just me? Does it move us forward?) to evaluate when and how to share their story in a leadership context.
  3. Analyze the difference between authentic disclosure and oversharing and distinguish performance-based leadership from presence-based leadership.
  4. Construct a personal "story ownership" strategy that moves their defining narrative from hidden to owned to shared, appropriate to the relationships and environments they lead within.
