Michigan has undergone changes to improve the consistency and transparency of regulatory oversight of nursing facilities.  In this session, we will cover the state statutory changes that have gone into effect, what those changes encompass, how they came about, and what providers should be experiencing during regulatory survey events.

Learner Objectives:

  1. List recent State of Michigan statutory changes to licensed nursing facilities.
  2. Discuss state agency actions initiated to adopt and implement new state statutory requirements.
  3. Discuss the hierarchy of precedence between federal and state laws.
  4. Discuss the process for reporting Facility Reported Incidents to the state agency.

Nurse Learner Outcome: At the conclusion of this educational session, participants will self-report a knowledge gain in the State of Michigan laws and regulations that apply to skilled nursing facilities.  In addition, participants will self-report an increase in knowledge regarding how state and federal laws and regulations intersect and impact operational management.
