The growth of Legionella in long-term care water systems is prevalent issue that can catch any facility/community off guard. This session will help ensure your Water Management Plan has the components to be successful at reducing the risk of Legionella growth, while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. Join us for this webinar as we outline what your Water Management Program should include and how to make sure it is running as designed.

Nurse Learner Outcome:

At the conclusion of this session, participants will self report a knowledge gain of high risk areas associated with legionella growth in premise plumbing.
At the conclusion of this session, participants will self report a knowledge gain of the components required for a successful water management plan.
At the conclusion of this session, participants will self report an intent to change practice by applying CDC/ASHRAE standards to their facility's water management plan.

Learner Objectives:

List 3 control measures effective at reducing legionella growth.
Identify risk areas for legionella growth in a nursing facility or assisted living community.
Explain corrective actions to respond to breaches in control limits.

Continuing Education

NHA: The Health Care Association of Michigan is a Certified Sponsor of continuing education with the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB). This program has been submitted, but not yet approved for Continuing Education for 1 total participant hour by NAB/NCERS—Approval #.

AFC & CALD: This continuing education activity is appropriate for adult foster care providers and certified assisted living directors for 1 clock hours of professional development for live courses.

RN: Nurse participants may also earn up to 1nurse education contact hour. Health Care Association of Michigan is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the Wisconsin Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Target Audience
This webinar is designed for executive-level leadership including facility/community owners, corporate-level consultants (CEO, CFO, COO, etc.), regional directors, administrators, executive directors, directors of nursing, nurse managers, directors of finance and other long-term care and/or assisted living management personnel (including homes for the aged, adult foster care and other independent and supportive living settings).

CE Reporting: HCAM will need 30 days after the event conclusion to compile and process all attendance data. Once the data is compiled, certificates will be available to access. Certificate questions should be directed to Allison Taipalus. Session attendance for administrators will be reported to NAB using their NAB Registry ID.

Requirements of Participation:

Attendance is being strictly monitored. Attendees must participate in the entire session in order to earn credit.
The evaluation must be completed in order to earn your certificate of completion.
