In today’s long-term care environment, leaders are asked to carry more than ever — staffing challenges, regulatory pressure, burnout, and declining morale. Rise Strong Leadership is a transformational half-day virtual seminar designed specifically for Long-Term Care Directors who want to strengthen team morale, reduce burnout, and improve patient outcomes through reflective leadership and coaching-based communication. Led by Cassie Smith, BSN, RN, Board-Certified Nurse Coach and founder of Sunrise Mentality LLC, this dynamic and thought-provoking experience blends real-world LTC leadership insight with evidence-based coaching strategies. Participants will leave equipped with practical tools, powerful mindset shifts, and a 30-day action plan to build a resilient culture where both staff and residents thrive.

Learner Objectives:

  1. Identify drivers of burnout in LTC.
  2. Use reflective coaching to shift culture.
  3. Strengthen team morale.
  4. Align goals with patient outcomes.
  5. Build a 30-day leadership plan.

Nurse Learner Outcome:  At the conclusion of this session, 80% of participants will self-report a knowledge gain of how to apply nurse coaching principles reflective leadership strategies within long-term care setting to improve staff engagement, communication, and culture.

Continuing Education

RN: This program will provide participants the opportunity to earn up to 3 nurse contact hours. Health Care Association of Michigan is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the Wisconsin Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. This program is jointly provided with MI-NADONA/LTC.

NHA: The Health Care Association of Michigan is a Certified Sponsor of continuing education with the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB).

  • This program has been submitted, but not yet approved for Continuing Education for 3 total participant hours by NAB/NCERS - Approval #
  • NHA CE is not being offered for on-demand completion of this program.

CE Reporting:  HCAM will need 30 days after the event conclusion to compile and process all attendance data. Once the data is compiled, certificates will be available to access. Certificate questions should be directed to Mary Gettel.

Requirements of Participation:

  1. Attendance is being strictly monitored.
  2. Be sure you are entering and exiting sessions at the start and end of the session – if you miss more than 10 minutes because you arrived late or left early, you will lose partial credit. HCAM will issue partial credit by half hour attended. It is YOUR responsibility to follow the agenda and be on time!
  3. A post-test must be successfully completed with a passing score of 85% or higher in order to earn credit.
  4. The evaluation must be completed in order to earn your certificate of completion.
  5. Attendees caught cheating or violating our attendance policies will not receive credit for the remainder of the event.
